The People Bank, Mississauga Office is currently recruiting for Casual Registered Nurses (RN’s) and
Registered Practical Nurses (RPN’s) for our clients. These positions are located in Mississauga and surrounding areas.

We are looking for qualified health care providers for Long Term Care facilities in order to meet their temporary staffing needs.

Key Job Responsibilities:

These positions offer flexible shifts that enable working one or more shifts per week in order to accommodate existing schedules. Competitive rates are offered and a variety in work schedule, as there is a “choose to work “in a number of different environments under varying medical settings.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To use nursing process in providing patient care. To participate as a member of the Health Care Team and the Nursing Team. As an individual practitioner, to maintain competence and professionalism relevant to current practice. To maintain nursing records. Function as a member of a Multidisciplinary team. To perform other related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing);
  • current BCLS;
  • BsCN and/or Gerontology Certificate is preferred;
  • must be interested in the practice of Gerontology nursing, have knowledge of discharge planning and be able to function independently in a total patient care environment;
  • sound knowledge and application of nursing skills as listed in the CNO "Standards of Nursing Practice";
  • good organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving and teaching skills;
  • sound judgement, good observation and patient assessment skills, tact and empathy;
  • able to perform appropriately in emergency situations;
  • able to lift, turn, transfer patients manually and with mechanical aids;
  • able to assume a leadership/supervisory role;
  • able to foster good public relations and effective working relationships in a family centered care environment; and
  • demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service in this area.

Unit Profile:
St. Peter's Rehabilitation Program offers a slow-paced client-centered approach to meet the rehabilitation goals of adults with complex needs. Rehabilitation is directed toward discharge to home, retirement home or long-term care by helping patients reach their maximum level of functioning, independence and comfort.

Position Summary:

The Registered Nurse ? Rehabilitation and Assessment is accountable to the Program Director and will provide nursing care to the patients in St. Peter's Hospital. The RN will also be an active member of the Health care team and be skilled in caring for patients. Scheduled Working Hours:


Rotating shifts as per below:
6 Week Repeating Schedule
N - Nights (2300-0700) ? Day 1,2,5,6,12,13,14,15,16,19,20,26,27,28,29,30,33,34,40,41,42

Qualifications:
1. Graduate of an approved School of Nursing and currently registered with the CNO
2. Experience in the Management of Stroke Rehabilitation patients would be viewed as an asset
3. Demonstrated ability to meet the physical requirements of the position
4. Ability to attend work regularly; demonstrated by an acceptable attendance record
