What makes a perfect nurse is probably slightly different to all of us. Respected and checkable professional qualifications to a high standard are undoubtedly vital, but to become a Medicare nurse there are other qualities that we insist on as well:

Showing that you are important

Even when coping with a common illness, to you - and to the best nurses - it is unique and it affects your physical, emotional and practical life in a very individual way.

Our nurses have a desire and commitment to do a lot of listening and observing first in order to plan your care in a tailored way, often needing to work sensitively in conjunction with other carers and members of your daily life. And in a way that shows they see you as the most special person with unique concerns, needs and views.

Care beyond duty

A perfect nurse is one who goes beyond the requirements of their training. They are the people who are driven to show remarkable acts of human kindness. Often very small things but that show love for someone they probably hardly know. These kind of nurses are infinitely flexible and patient, always demonstrating that they really do care for you.

A concern for your whole life

http://atticannie.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/mom.jpgAs well as seeing your individual need for care, our nurses are in a position to see and solve all kinds of practical issues that arise in your situation. They have a concern for everything from your family and friend's understanding of the situation to the planning of coping physically with temporary and long term hurdles.

And, because of our unique links with organisations ranging from ensuring that you are never without power to mobility specialists, they can efficiently help you keep life as even as possible.

Seeing a way forward

Illness is not funny at all. And none of us like to loose control of our lives as a result. But great nurses are somehow able to bring in a way of looking forward with new energy and expectation of good things to come. Our nurses to have that special quality of being able to see the future positively and make you feel you can smile even when life at the time seems really tough.

To us at Medicare, the perfect nurse must be a very special person indeed, just like you.
